George Washington

George Washington was a great take uper to betimes America, non just as a president, but also as a leader of our military during the Revolution and other wars. He has done many things for this country and thats why he should always be remembered. George was born on February 22,1732, in Westmoreland Co., Virginia. He was the son of Augustine Washington, a member of the colonial aristocracy, and Mary thump Washington, who was Augustines second wife. after Augustines death in 1743, George moved to Mount Vernon, a large estate in Fairfax Co. It was the home of Georges half brother named Lawrence. Georges aboriginal notebooks indicated that he read widely in geography, military history, agriculture, deportment, and composition. At the age of 17, he was invited to join a party to solidifying lands owned by the Fairfax family, which George was related to by marriage, west of the obliterate Ridge Mountains. Georges journey led him to take a lifel ong interest in the development of western lands. In the summer of 1749, George was appointed official surveyor for Culpeper Co. During the next two years, he made many surveys for landowners on the Virginia frontier. In 1753, George was appointed aide-de-camp of one of the districts into which Virginia was divided, with the rank of major. Lt. Gov. Robert Dinwiddie of Virginia chose Washington to do a in truth important part during the cut and Indian War. It was to stemma the cut forces in the Ohio River valley. George also was instructed to observe the strengths of the French forces, such as the locations of their forts and the routes they might have to take if they were forced from Canada. After successfully completing this mission, George was promoted to a lieutenant colonel, and then was lucid to lead a militia force for the protection of workers who were construct a fort at the Forks of the Ohio River.
