Pluralistic Approach to Moral Theory †Free Samples to Students

Question: Talk about the Pluralistic Approach to Moral Theory. Answer: Presentation: Kants theory is basedon the perspective that the activities performed by the people are ethically acceptable. The principle focal point of Kantian Philosophy is that the people need to agree to the lawful commitments for making a decent picture inside the working environment. Considering this viewpoint, segregations ought not be permitted in the work environment. This is on the grounds that it brings about the obliteration of the working environment respectability (Harris, 2017). On the off chance that the segregations originate from the representatives, at that point they are disregarding the standards and guidelines the board. Besides, this infringement can be considered as conscious, mirroring the deviation from the virtues. Appending the case, connecting with the representatives into the working environment issues produces working environment assorted variety. In this manner, it is the obligation of the supervisors to direct gathering conversations for deflecting the cases of con tentions, separations and disturbances in the work environment premises (Johnson, 2015). As indicated by the Utilitarian view, the headings of the individuals ought to be founded on presenting kind mentality to the individuals. This relates with the upgrade of societal position through obliging the necessities, requests and prerequisites of the customers. In view of this viewpoint, separations ought not permitted in the work environment. This is on the grounds that it doesn't guarantee the prosperity of the representatives. The announcements of Rachel uncover the lack of engagement of the workers towards the enrollment and determination process. The reception of new procedures in the working environment issues and frameworks is acceptable as far as drawing in the applicants (Vaughn, 2015). Then again, if this advancement brings biasness among the representatives, it demonstrates unsafe for the profitability the executives. In this segment, the focal point of conversation would be the partner hypothesis under the utilitarian methodology. The moral choices in the associations are now and then made affected by utilitarianism. The specialists have discussed that the organizations or the specialist co-ops must have an appropriate relationship of trust among them. At exactly that point the organizations can exploit appropriately (Waller, 2013)The instance of the utilitarianism in the contender laborers has been extremely viable in this issue. In the event that the organizations can keep a superior relationship with the partners, this will assist them with earning a superior spot in the business and have better monetary results. Trust is a significant, important and uncommon source that is exceptionally difficult to accomplish. According to the utilitarian sources, this will bring the best upper hand for the associations (Hinman, 2012). The instance of the contender laborers should be talked about in this segment. The awful results may happen in view of the end of the entryways by the countries for all the pariahs (Waller, 2013).The migration offices have been abused and the most significant partner in this area is the legislature. A portion of the significant effects or impacts that can be caused in this setting are the monetary inefficiencies;the financial imbalance is additionally one exceptionally abhorrent factor in this issue (Reamer, 2013).The utilitarian methodology in this issue isn't at all worthy since laws and rules of the nation are disregarded. As the standard partners, the legislature should modify the migration arrangements appropriately however not following the utilitarian methodology. The political oppression can expand in view of adopting the utilitarian strategy in reality (Hinman, 2012). The instance of the contender laborers may fall on the various individuals like the migrants of one nation, the local specialists, and the national culture of the nations, work markets of the concerned nations, capital flight, and enterprise of the new organizations. There are different sorts of perspectives too. On the off chance that the utilitarian methodology is followed for the warrior laborers, the security of the individuals will be in extraordinary pain (Reamer, 2013).It has been accepted that the unlawful movement in the nations upsets the common tranquility of the nation. Along these lines the individuals of the different nations are influenced by illicit migration and action of battle laborers who help to relieve the issues. On the off chance that the battle laborers don't react to the significant issues, the whole country will be in a difficult situation. Utilitarian perspective on the segregations at the working environment One of the most significant things to be tended to here is the segregations in the work environment for the representatives. The organizations need to take a few choices for the workers that would satisfy them (Hinman, 2012). The organization needs to recognize the explanations behind the general bliss of the workers. The agonies and delights should be talked about in the different manners for the representatives in the working environments. On the off chance that the representatives are denied of the self-improvement openings in the work environment, they will feel the agony the board. The burdens that are caused during the dismal occasions at the work environment can be called as the purposes behind the distress. On the off chance that the workers land the correct position fulfillment this can cause them the delight and lead them to the general bliss (Hinman, 2012). It is extremely intriguing to feature on the realities of utility on the different parts of utility. It implies the individuals ought to have the thoughts regarding the people, activities and the foundations to get the joy on the planet request. The human inspiration can be given from the parts of the different sorts of the joy among the people. Bentham and Mill both have the possibility that the main point of the people is to arrive at their bliss. Bentham has been a lot of libertine in his way to deal with the human bliss (Trevino Nelson, 2016). The two sovereign segments of the human instinct are the torment and joy. Bentham has consistently demanded that satisfaction for the individuals is totally founded on the delight of the people. The mental gratification can be ascribed to the ideas of Bentham. Plant has offered this issue of gratification be proverbial (Trevino Nelson, 2016). The mental selfishness and indulgence are the two most significant components of the whole situatio n about the human bliss and inspiration. The utilitarian view decides the reality about the utility of the operator and the bliss of the people. References Crane, A. APA Rules for Attributing Sources

APA Rules for Attributing Sources When you are writing an APA paper,  you will often need to refer to works by other people. This may involve describing research conducted by psychologists, paraphrasing another writer, or including a direct quotation from another work. Proper APA citing demonstrates that you are familiar with the research on your topic, that your sources have been accurately documented and that you own conclusions are backed up by solid evidence. Your in-text citations are just as important as your reference section. APA format establishes a number of clear rules for how to cite works using author information. The specific format of your in-text citations will vary depending upon the source and the number of authors to whom the source is attributed. Citing Your Sources in APA Format All of the sources that you use in your paper should be cited in two ways. First, an in-text citation should be used wherever you refer to another source in the body of your paper. This is often accomplished by including the name of the source’s author and the publication year. The second way that sources should be cited in APA format is to include a reference section at the end of your paper that provides the full reference for any and every source that was cited in the body of your paper. Always remember, if you cited a source in your paper, it must also be included in the reference section. How to Cite Authors In APA Format No Author While most articles, books, and other reference materials will include an author attribution, some sources lack information on authorship. How do you cite these resources in APA format? In-text citations should use a short article title enclosed in parentheses and the date. When article titles are long, simply use the first word or two of the title. Example The study revealed a strong positive correlation between the two variables (Learn APA, 2006). One Author When a book, article or other source lists only one author, simply provide the authors last name followed by the publication date. Examples ...students demonstrated solid understanding of the concepts and information (Jones, 2001).orJones (2001) found that students demonstrated a solid understanding of the concepts and information. Two Authors When a source lists two authors, your in-text citations should provide the last names of both authors and the publication date. Examples ...later studies demonstrated a similar effect (Ross Hudson, 2004).orRoss and Hudson (2004) found a similar effect in later studies. Three to Six Authors Proper APA format for sources with three to six authors requires listing the last names of all authors the first time you cite the source as well as the publication date. Examples ...results indicated a strong positive correlation between the two variables (Robsen, Hutchkins, Ru, Selanis, 1989).orRobsen, Hutchkins, Ru, Selanis (1989) found a strong positive correlation between the two variables. Subsequent citations should list only the last name of the first author along with the publication date. Robsen (1989) demonstrated the effects of... or ..in a study demonstrating these effects (Robsen, et al., 1989). Seven or More Authors Listing the last name of the first author as well as the publication date should cite sources with more than seven authors. Examples ...students demonstrated competence after reading about APA format (Smith et al., 2005).orSmith et al., (2005) found that... Organizations as Authors To create an in-text citation in APA format when the author is an organization or entity, always include the full name of the organization the first time you cite the source in-text. The citation should also include the acronym of the organization if one is available. Subsequent citations can simply list the acronym and the publication date. Examples The American Psychological Association (2000) reported that...or...found that students responded positively (American Psychological Association [APA], 2000).and subsequent citations(APA, 2000). Be sure to check your references and citations using the official Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. How to Cite Books in APA Format The APA citing format you use for books can vary depending upon the number of authors that are listed. If a book has just one author, simply provide the author’s last name followed by the publication date. In cases where there are more than six authors, the last name and first initial of the first listed author should be used, followed by et al.. Examples ...students demonstrated competence after reading about APA format (Smith et al., 2005).orSmith et al., (2005) found that... APA Citing for Articles in Journals, Magazines, and Other Periodicals When you are citing articles in an academic journal, magazine, newspapers or other periodicals, you should follow the author-date format. APA citing should include the authors last name, followed by the date of publication. Examples ...as Smith and Jones (2005) described...or...the study found a statistically significant relationship between the two variables (Smith Jones, 2005). In some instances, a publication might not have a listed author. Include the short title of the article followed by the date of publication. For example: ...the findings were contradicted previous research on the subject (New Research, 2009). Citing Articles with No Author In cases where no author is listed, include the short title of the article followed by the date of publication. Example ...the findings were consistent with previous research (New Study, 2003). If you use a direct quotation, your APA citing should always include the page number where the source can be found. In cases where you are citing an organization such as the American Psychological Association (APA), spell out the entire name the first time you cite the source. All further citations should use the appropriate acronym. APA Citing for Electronic Sources The exact format you use for APA citing of electronic media depends on the type of source that is used. In many cases, the format will be very similar to that of books or journal articles, but you should also include the URL of the source and the date it was accessed in the reference section.

The Great Depression Brother, Will You Spare Me a Dime

The 1929-1942 depression saw the worst unemployment rate in the history of the United States. In 1933, the highest unemployment rate, 25%, was recorded, and so 1 in every 4 people was unemployed. There is not just one cause, although many assume that the stock market crash of 1929 was solely responsible. The Dust Bowl, tariffs, debts, and an abundance of other needed banking laws and problems also caused the loss of money in the countrys economy, the highest rates of deflation seen since the start of the United States. The Great Depression reached every social class, because each social class caused it. Debts, especially consumer debts, added to the number of bank failures during the Great Depression, totaling above 9,000 banks. When a consumer wanted an item that they could not afford, like land and seeds, vacuum cleaners, or cars, they would buy it on credit or loan. When people took out loans, the bank gave the consumer the deposit of another customer who banked with them. Then, w hen the customer wanted to take out their money, the bank did not have the apposite money to give them. If the money given to the consumer was not paid off when the consumer, who bought the item on credit, filed for bankruptcy, the bank then had to shut down because it had no money to give its customers. The Dust Bowl, a major drought caused by farmers planting nutrient- stripping wheat on the nutrient rich soil, was a leading cause of bankruptcy, especially in the south, where wheatShow MoreRelatedAnalysis On Historical Period Of Song Essay1523 Words   |  7 Pagesbetter understanding as how the great depression took place in addition to how a simple song made broken Americans feel better. A make up artist job Free Essays

The job of a make-up artist is my lifelong ambition. Since early childhood, I was impressed with the mysterious world of stage and cinema and eager to make a contribution to the sphere. I believe that make-up artists are making a great deal to make artists’ appearance before cameras intriguing and appealing. We will write a custom essay sample on A make up artist job or any similar topic only for you Order Now There are also a number of things about the career that appeal to me at this point. First, it involves communication with people. As make-up artists work with movie stars, television hosts, and theatre actors, this means communication with interesting, talented people who bring their gifts to stage presentations. As someone fascinated with the artistic world, I am eager to foster relationships in it that can turn into lasting friendships. Contributing to their looks on the screen and on stage, I can become an important person in their lives and one to whom they turn for support and advice. Second, I like the creativity of the job. A human face can appear to the world in such a distinct variety of looks that it is really breath-taking to imagine. The make-up artist can use one’s innate ability to add a new touch to anybody’s face, making it more or less impressive. I am excited to learn ways to present the same face from a different standpoint, demonstrating its different aspects and qualities. I believe that there is great opportunity to use one’s creative abilities in this kind of job. Since I am always booming with ideas, I feel that a job of such kind is right for me. Third, it is very important that this job relates to human beauty. Personally, I sometimes admire how good-looking people can be. People are so different, and the make-up artist’s job is to bring out their individuality, underscoring their most appealing qualities. Working on the human face is so exciting because, no matter how trite this phrase seems, the face is the mirror of the soul and is thus the most important part of appearance. Trying to reveal the beauty of the human face is very exciting, especially when one works with a face that does not fit into social beauty standards. I would be especially thrilled to work on such faces, attempting to show the world the inner beauty of these people. I also enjoy the technical part of the profession and its various challenges. I know that I will have to gain a thorough understanding of technical issues involved and details of the photographic process, shooting, colors, special effects, and the like. I am really interested in seeing all these details in work and gain a thorough understanding of them. When I finish the make up artist school, I intend to seek a job, perhaps on television or in the movie industry. This is my first choice because I believe that a make-up artist has a lot to do in those areas. This work is going to be creative and offer opportunities for self-development. I would love to secure a permanent job with a film-making company or a TV channel. I understand that it may be unrealistic at some point and therefore am prepared to deal with assignments on a contract basis, offering my services to different companies for temporary projects. I hope that over time, as my experience increases, I will obtain access to interesting projects with attractive compensation. Preparing make-up for a well-known movie would be the pinnacle of my career. To attain this goal, I plan to do a lot of networking in the industry and related trade bodies and associations. In this way, I can increase my participation in the industry and foster good connections. I would also love to find a mentor who can guide me through the intricacies of the profession. This is why I would gladly accept an assistant position as my first job. I hope that with due effort, a career in this industry can become a reality for me. Lifespan Personality Towards explaining President Barrack Obamas Personality Traits

Individuals go through different developmental phases as they negotiate diverse experiences from childhood to adulthood, otherwise known as lifespan. The experiences are mainly determined by both nature and nurture influences, and plays a central role in determining an individual’s personality (Grogorenko Sternberg, 2003).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Lifespan Personality: Towards explaining President Barrack Obama’s Personality Traits specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It is imperative to note at this early stage that consecutive studies on developmental phases through the lifespan has yielded many theories that attempt to explain the mental, emotional, cognitive, and social development experienced by individuals. This paper purposes to critically analyze what forces have impacted the life of U.S. President Barrack Obama from the perspective of developmental psychology by applying two theories o f personality in the analyses of the influences throughout the lifespan. Heredity and Environmental Influences Psychologists largely believe that both heredity and environmental factors play a fundamental role in the development of a multiplicity of personality traits (Knafo Plomin, 2006). Personality can be exclusively described as the continuing or long-term patterns of thought, values, world views, and behavior that an individual projects or expresses in diverse circumstances (Shaffer, 2009; Polak et al, 2010). By any standards, Obama is charismatic, ambitious, and goal-directed (Jittan Immelman, 2008). He is confident, analytical, thoughtful, sensitive, and energetic, not mentioning the fact that he is independent and open in both thought and action. The above personality traits, though not conclusive, can be used to describe the person of the 44th president of the U.S. President Obama’s cognitive and intellectual aptitudes largely demonstrated through his sharp thinkin g and leadership approach can be attributed to heredity influences, especially with the realization that his father was an astute civil servant in post-independence Kenya. Heredity influences occur when genetic characteristics are transmitted from the parents to the offspring. His skin color and hair type are genetic factors that must have influenced his social and emotional development especially in socialization processes. Obama’s resilient and goal-directed nature can be attributed to the experiences he underwent as a child and youth due to the heredity influences described above. Environmental influences are thought to have the biggest role in determining personality traits of individuals (Shaffer, 2009). According to the author, personality characteristics are not only determined in part by environmental influences, but they influence how individuals adjust to the immediate environment and how they respond to particular situations.Advertising Looking for essay on ps ychology? These characteristics can be attributed to environmental influences that the president experienced while growing up in a single-family setup and in school. According to Myers (2009), Obama’s â€Å"†¦black African father, white American mother, Muslim middle name, and childhood spent partially in Asia make him more that the 21st-century embodiment of the classic American melting pot† (para. 5). The cultural environment in which young Obama grew explains his assertive and competitive nature (Shaffer, 2009). Family Issues and Support Systems It is safe to argue that family issues must have played a significant role in the developmental grow th and adjustment of President Obama. First, Obama was born out of a multi-racial relationship between an African father and a white American mother (Myers, 2009). This must have had a profound effect on Obama’s personality development. According to Shaffer (2009), the personality development of individuals is affected by whether such individuals have other siblings, and also by the order in which the siblings are born in the family context. Reliable sources say that Obama had a junior sister, hence he was the first born in the family. His parents separated when Obama was young. According to Shaffer (2009), first-born children live to become more achievement-oriented, independent, and responsible. This can be used to explain Obama’s mastery of the above named attributes. Shaffer (2009) asserts that â€Å"†¦the home environment parents provide for their children is influenced in part by the parents own genotypes†¦And because parents also provide their childre n with genes, it so happens that the learning environments to which children are exposed are correlated with†¦their own genotypes (p. 82). This statement reveals how heredity and environment come into play in the family context to influence an individual’s personality development. In support systems, Obama was said to be a high performer both in high school and college (Myers, 2009). Here, it can be said that his physical characteristics (good looks) and emotional stability (outgoing nature) influenced his developmental growth and adjustment during his formative years.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Lifespan Personality: Towards explaining President Barrack Obama’s Personality Traits specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Physical attraction comes as a result of heredity influences while emotional stability can be occasioned by both heredity and environmental influences. According to Shaffer (2009 ), physically attractive students are more likely to be treated favorably and auspiciously than their less attractive counterparts, hence heightening their confidence and energy levels as revealed in the case of Obama. Theories of Personality Development There exist many theories of personality development that attempts to explain how individuals maneuver their way through the different developmental phases. Sigmund Freud’s psychosocial theory and Watson’s social learning theory of can be applied to explain Obama’s personality development. In psychosexual theory, Freud argued that individuals are largely driven by drives and conflicts that they are oblivious of, not mentioning the fact that their personalities is overwhelmingly shaped by early childhood experiences (Shaffer, 2009). It is up to the individual to control the powerful biological urges that seeks to be fulfilled since society view them as undesirable. According to Shaffer, â€Å"†¦the way in w hich parents have managed these sexual and aggressive urges in the first few years of life play a major role in shaping the child’s future conduct and character† (p. 39). Freud comes up with the stages of psychological development and suggests that a child must successfully pass through the stages and avoid fixation to lead a fulfilling life in adulthood (Polak et al, 2010). On the other hand, Watson postulates that conclusions about individual personality development should be based on observations and interpretations of unconcealed behavior patterns rather than conjecturing about unconscious processes or urges that are not observable. Indeed, Watson believed that â€Å"†¦well learned associations between external stimuli and observable responses†¦are the building blocks of human development† (Shaffer, 2009, p. 44). According to Watson, social environment rather than inborn tendencies are instrumental in individual’s personality development. Con sequently, Sigmund’s psychosocial theory differ in major ways with Watson’s social learning approach as far as explaining Obama’s personality development is concerned. The psychosocial theory seems to suggest that childhood experiences largely determine the personality of an individual in adulthood.Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In addition, Freud’s childhood experiences are largely as a result of biological urges that cannot be quantitatively measured (Shaffer, 2009). As such, the theory presupposes that Obama must have had a totally fulfilling childhood for him to develop such astute personality characteristics in adulthood. According to Sigmund’s theory, the experiences that Obama had in school and in his role as a senator cannot be said to influence his personality traits since they were informed by his childhood experiences. Watson, however, punches holes on this viewpoint, suggesting that personality traits are largely dependent on the rearing environments. In addition, Watson asserts that the personality traits of children are also dependent on the parents and other significant individuals in the lives of children (Shaffer, 2009; Polak et al, 2010). To conclude, therefore, Watson’s social learning theory best explains the personality traits and accomplishments of president Obama. It can be argued that Obama has gained a lot of experiences from interacting with the social environment. It is wrong to suggest that the president has gained the incredible personality traits through a sequence of divergent stages informed by a process of biological maturation (Shafter, 2009). On the contrary, Obama’s personality traits have been achieved through a continuous process of behavior transformation that is informed by his interactions with the social environment. Informative Essay Sample on Theories of Evolution

Informative Essay Sample on Theories of Evolution The creation-evolution controversy is everlasting verbal battle between the advocates of two theories. During those disputes many brilliant ideas appeared, and even more ideas were demolished. Theories of evolution and creation involved best scientists: theologists, biologists, medics, sociologists, geologists, paleontologists, nuclear physicists and cosmologists. Those theories even acquired a â€Å"foster child†, so called theistic evolution theory. In this essay I will discuss the origins and consequences of the creation-evolution controversy, emphasize main points of three theories and sum everything up with my personal opinion. The theory of evolution (also called Metaphysical naturalism) probably originated in early Greek philosophy. In their definition of nature, Greeks distinguished natural from artificial. During the Renaissance, which reintroduced numerous treatises by Greek and Roman natural philosophers, and many of the ideas and concepts of naturalism were conceived. In this period, metaphysical naturalism finally acquired a distinct name, materialism. However, in the 20th century advances in physics as well as philosophy made the whole idea of materialism untenable. Matter was found to be a form of energy so reality was obviously not so â€Å"material† as it used to be thought of. As a final note to the history of metaphysical naturalism, Marxism, a variety of politicized naturalism, appeared. However, today most advocates of metaphysical naturalism reject both extremes and embrace the more moderate political ideals. While the adherents of evolutionary theory were disputing whose ideas is mo re â€Å"absolutely right† new theory the theory of theistic evolution appeared. Theistic evolution (or evolutionary creationism) is the general opinion that the theory of creation is compatible understanding about biological evolution. Theistic evolution supporters can be seen as the group, who try to avoid conflicts between religion and science, they are sure that teachings about creation and scientific theories of evolution need not be contradictory. This term was first used by Eugenie Scott to refer to the beliefs about creation and evolution holding the theological view that God creates through evolution. This view is accepted by major Christian churches, including Roman Catholicism and some Protestant denominations. The major criticism of theistic evolution by non-theistic evolutionists focuses on its essential belief in a supernatural creator, evolutionists state that theistic evolution is simply a belief in a God of the gaps, where anything that cannot currently be explained by science is attributed to God. Intelligent design (also known as creationism) is the assertion that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. The term intelligent design came into use after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the 1987 case of Edwards v. Aguillard who claimed that the teaching of creation science alongside evolution was a violation of the Establishment Clause, which prohibits state aid to religion. The term irreducible complexity was introduced by Michael Behe, who defines it as a single system which is composed of several well-matched interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, wherein the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning. For that time their claims were declared to be unsupported, but in a long run it turns out that sympathizers of creation idea have the strongest arguments. Fine Tuning argument, for example, claims that the fundame ntal constants of physics and laws of nature appear so finely-tuned to permit life that only a supernatural engineer can explain it. Attentive reader should have already noticed that I am the supporter of creation theory. In my personal view neither the naturalism theory nor the theory of theistic evolution can not (and never will) explain the existence of morality, emotions, conscience, love. Only God who has all aforementioned features could give them to us. In a conclusion I would like to mention the defiance that Dr. Kent Hovind bid to all advocates of evolution theory in far 1990. I have a standing offer of $250,000 to anyone who can give any empirical evidence (scientific proof) for evolution. My $250,000 offer demonstrates that the hypothesis of evolution is nothing more than a religious belief. No one still managed to get this reward. Maybe YOU want to be the first?;)

Brief Review of Literature Discussing Theories Essay

Brief Review of Literature Discussing Theories - Essay Example Equally, Bronfenbrenner, Pavlov, Skinner, Watson, Vygotsky in the midst of others, are among the distinguished theorists who have addressed the issue. This paper will review literature discussing theories and theorists concerned with the cause and response to problematic behaviour in children. Causes of problematic behaviour in children The development of children behaviours, whether good or problematic, starts at an early age. These behaviours may persist, if no intervention measures are put in place. In addition, the magnitude of the problem develops with age, as children who demonstrate problematic behaviours during their earlier years are likely to show more problems later in life (Papatheodorou, 2005 pp. 4). These behaviours start at birth, when they are controlled by external factors. Bowlby’s attachment theory asserts that infants begin to develop psychological attachment to the first people they relate with, and use the knowledge they acquire to shape their behaviours. The infant-parent relationship is thus very useful in influencing the environment that shapes the behaviour of the children (Wallach & Caulfield, 1998 pp. 125). According to Dowling (2009 pp. 11), developing the confidence of children at a tender age plays a major role in shaping their behaviours. She affirms that, confidence is a driver in supporting the growth at a tender age. It is apparent that children gain confidence from the relationship they develop with their parents. Such activities as allowing children to play may increase their self-confidence, which plays a role in shaping their behaviours (Dowling, 2009 pp. 11). John Bowlby (Arnold, 2010 pp. 21) in his study of the attachment theory affirmed that the earliest bond between children and their caregivers has a lasting effect in their lives. These affects are demonstrated in their behaviours, which may be problematic or calm. Children who do not have strong attachments with their parents or caregivers usually develop oppo sitional-defiant, conduct disorder and in extreme cases post-traumatic depression. This makes the children aggressive, upset most of the time and having a feeling of insecurity (Arnold, 2010 pp. 23). Piaget’s theory about children development cements the attachment theory. According to Piaget, children have the ability to construct their own knowledge based on the experiences they go through. In addition, he affirms that accommodation and assimilation play a role in shaping the behaviours of children. As a result, children who are rejected at a tender age may learn bad traits, which are reflected in their behaviours (Bronfenbrenner, 1979 pp. 10). Domestic violence in the families also plays a major role in shaping the behaviours of children. This incidence entails any form of threatening behaviour or violence, physical, psychological, financial or sexual between two adults who have been living together. Such incidences are devastating to the lives of a child who may not be aw are of what is going on. What children see, hear or experience during the violence makes them change their perception as well as behaviours. Children who for example hear their parent scream in anger or plead in fear, will develop aggression and hatred towards a certain group of people. As a result, the hatred is reflected in their behaviours (Sterne, Poole, Chadwick, & Lawler, 2010 pp. 4). On a larger perspective, the society in which children are brought up

Nutrition Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Nutrition Paper - Essay Example They believe that they are inadequate. People who view themselves critically are more prone to develop anorexia. Research on the biological causes of anorexia suggests that people with high levels of cortisol and low levels of serotonin and norepinephrine have a tendency towards anorexia since these hormones control stress and general well-being of a person. Also some people are genetically prone towards the disease if it runs in the family (Shepphird, 58). The first stage of Anorexia as identified by research is when a person loses a good amount of weight in a relatively short time period. This is then followed by praises from friends, families and acquaintances. The patient gives too much worth to these praises and starts fearing an increase in weight. This then develops an obsession among the patient to limit or reduce weight. From herein begins, the disease process. In the early stages, the patient develops a compulsion towards physical exercise. Exercise starts taking up most of the patient’s time and he ignores his social life. At the same time, the patient starts obsessing about food. They start researching about food, calories and diets. They even try to implement these in their own diet and often try to hide these details from their friends and family. In the second stage, the patient becomes preoccupied with his body image. He starts focusing on individual parts of his body where he assumes that he needs to lose weight. The person feels basically fine in his stage but starvation is becoming quite common in the second stage. The third stage occurs when the patient starts to starve himself. He starts wearing warmer clothes as starvation leads to cold. The patient also displays many other emotions as a direct result of starvation. These include depression, anxiety, paranoia, irritability, insomnia and exhaustion. It is difficult for immediate friends and families to ignore Anorexia Nervosa. The symptoms appear on the

Sleep: Why We Need It or Do We? There are many different philosophies on how much sleep the body needs or doesn’t need. Sleep has been said to be the body’s way of refueling. It allows the body to restore its mental energy (msnbc.com). The question is how much sleep does the body truly need to function? One theory pertaining to sleep is that if your body has a lack of sleep it would just adapt to less sleep. Sleep deprivation can cause us to lose our agility, cognitive, and immune responses. There is no explanation as to why people sleep an average of eight hours each night (msnbc.com). Scientists are still exploring the bodies need for sleep, depths of sleep, typical sleep patterns, the negative impact a lack of sleep can cause, if age and schedules of people affect it, and to what degree does it affect the functions of the nervous system. Sleep deprivation has been a major factor in some of the biggest disasters in history. The notable ones are the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear meltdown, and the 1979 Nuclear accident at Three Mile Island (Peri). Drowsiness is also a leading cause of accidents according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They estimate that nearly 100,000 automobile accidents and 1,550 crash-related deaths occur each year in the United States (Peri). Some work related injuries are also cause by a poor quality of sleep. There are many other negative factors that are related to sleep deprivation. It is estimated that 90% of people who suffer from insomnia also suffer from other medical issues. People who Gautier 2 suffer from sleep disorders are at a higher risk for high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, heart attack and h... ...stems. The researchers have found a connection between lack of sleep and obesity in adults and children. Reduced levels of leptin, a hormone that is produced by an adipose tissue hormone, cause the body to not suppress the appetite (Colten). In conclusion, scientists have discovered that the body is negatively impacted from a lack of sleep. Human bodies need sleep to restore and maintain its cognitive process, bodily functions, overall health and well being. The body has to have all depths of sleep in order to function properly. Sleep deprivation can cause serious health issues such as heart disease, lower sex drive, obesity, and heart attack. Age is a factor in how many quality hours we require throughout our lifetime. Scientists continue to discover more information every day on how our sleep can impact the body, mental state, and overall happiness.

The Positive and Negative Impacts of Technology on Family Life

The Positive and Negative Impacts of Technology on Family Life â€Å"Is technology tearing apart family life? Text messaging, social networking, and online video are changing the way parents and children see the world—and each other. † There are many technologies in today’s world that are widely used not just as a want, but as a necessity of life. This term paper will focus on relationship between family life and computer technologies, which have become the most widely used technology in the world due to its variety of functions including SNS, mailing, online face-to-face video chatting, and assignment completing tools. Computer technologies have both positive and negative effects on family life. As more and more families are beginning to own their own computers (computer internet users in North America reached to about â€Å"78. 3 %†) , the effects of technologies on family life is becoming more easily identifiable. This term paper will come across both the benefit and negative effects of using technologies on family life. There are the negative effects which include the isolation of family members, and parents bringing their work home. On the other hand, linking relatives together is one positive effect that technologies have on family life, and being instantly updated on other family members’ status is also a huge benefit. Overall, the benefits of using technologies outweigh the negative effects. One negative effect of computers on family life is less face-to-face contact between family members. In most families, each family member has their own computers or smart phones that are kept in their own rooms. Nowadays, the functions of computers and smart phones are not just limited to internet surfing, and assignment tools. They are also widely used for social networking services (SNS), such as; Facebook, Skype, and Twitter just to name a few. As a result of the increasing time consumption of using the functions on computers, family members are now more isolated from each other and cannot talk to each other face to face as often as before when technologies were not as important in day to day living. Even when there is only one computer per family, there is an interruption with family life. If one person is using the computer, then other family members do not want to just wait while the computer is being used, so they will go to a different room and each person will end up using the computers at their own leisure. The use of computer games is another thing that has reduced human contact between family members. Before computers were used in the home, if someone wanted to play a game, they usually had to find at least one other family member to play a board game or card game with them. That forced families to spend more time talking to each other. Now if someone wants to play a game that requires more than one person, they can just go on the computer and either play online against another person, or they can play against the computer. Playing games on the computer makes it easier to be isolated from physical contact with other family members. Now that you don’t have to ask person in your family to play a game, most families don’t spend as much time talking to each other and learning about each other. Another negative cause that computers have on family life is that many people now bring their work home with them instead of leaving it at work the way they used to. People’s work is now invading the privacy of their home. People find that it is easier and more convenient to work at home, so they bring their work home allowing it to invade their home. When people bring home their work, it separates families by causing parents to spend more time at home working, and less time with their family causing parents to not know as much about what is going on in their children’s lives. Bringing work home separates families, making them not as close knit as they would be if they spent more time together talking. Computer technologies have not just had negative effects on families; they have also had some positive ones. The use of Social Networking Service (SNS) through computer is one of the positive effects that technologies have had on families. With the use of computer functions such as; e-mail, Messengers, Twitter, and Skype, families can take care of things that they would otherwise have to leave the home to take care of. Using SNS also allow families to communicate with other family members who might not live close by. For example, I Skype (free online webcam chatting) my father in Korea at least twice a week. Without the use of SNS I wouldn’t be able to communicate with him nearly as much because phone bills would be too expensive for me to afford. So, because of SNS I am able to remain close to my father even though he is in Korea, and I am in Canada. A second positive effect that technologies have had on families is the use of instant texting service. This allows families to talk to each other and have a fairly normal conversation with each other even though they might not be in the vicinity. I personally use instant text messaging services to talk to my parents, my sister, and my relatives regularly because it keeps them updated on what is happening with me on a daily basis. While I am at school, I am still able to stay in touch with everyone back home without having to call each one of them separately. For many people who are away at school, instant texting services allow them to stay in touch with friends and family even though they are not at home. A third positive effect that technologies have had on families is computer web pages (Facebook). Web pages allow families to post pictures of themselves and other family members so that everyone in the family can go to the web page and view the pictures. My sister has a web page that explains things about her, and it has pictures of her and friends. One of my other uncles who lives in Korea also has his own web page. On his web page, he has pictures of his baby daughter. By going to my uncle’s web page, I have been able to see pictures of my baby cousin as she has grown and changed. Many other families have web pages similar to my families that they use to watch their families change even though they are not in the same country. In conclusion, the negative effects of using technologies posed can essentially be overcome by use of SNS technology through computer or phone. When there is lack of human contact between the family members, then Skype can be used to perform online face-to-face chatting. The use of technologies also proved to be more efficient when each family member want to be updated on each others’ status. Without the use of technology, instant messaging system would not be possible, so the relatives or family members would not be able to interact with each other as easily. APA 6th edition reference 1. Analysis Of Fahrenheit 451 During The Cold War

Andrea Aggarao Mrs.Thunell English II Honors 7 April 2016 Guy Montag’s Transformation Throughout Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury wrote his novel, Fahrenheit 451, during the Cold War. Although he initially wanted to warn people about the danger that technology can greatly affect a society and community for the worst, Bradbury s novel was interpreted as commentary for censorship at the time he was writing the novel. His use of many examples of reality was thought to emphasize this point. Even so, the main character of the novel is an example of a drastic dynamic character. A dynamic character usually undergoes a transformation in relation to events of the plot. Ray Bradbury’s dynamic character in Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag, undergoes a transformation throughout the novel that is influenced by his interactions with other characters and his feelings of separation from society as he explores himself through reflection in books. Bradbury used the novel to comment on society during the Cold War. The novel was written in the time period after World War II and as the Cold War took place in American history. Many details of the city in Fahrenheit 451, alludes to many historical practices during this time. Hoskinson mentions that Americans were arresting and investigating anyone suspicious of being a communist without concrete evidence in his article of the historical context of the novel. The novel mentions the real world advancements in technological warfare, such as the atomic bomb.Show MoreRelatedCold War in the Eyes of Ray Bradbury1689 Words   |  7 PagesAmerica (Waukegan, Illinois), wrote two very distinctly different novels in the early Cold War era.
